Your Path to Enrollment: What to Expect

Enrolling in the Texas Independence Health Plan (TIHP) has never been simpler. We work exclusively with licensed and appointed agents to ensure you have all the information you need to make an informed decision about your healthcare coverage.

Do I Qualify to Become a Member of Texas Independence Health Plan?

  1. Do you currently have Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance)?
  2. Have you been a resident of a nursing home or skilled nursing facility for longer than ninety (90) days?
  3. Do you live at home and/or in a contracted assisted living facility and Texas has certified that you need the type of care that is usually provided in a nursing home?

The Scope of Appointment (SOA)

To prioritize your protection and ensure a focused discussion, your agent will first complete a “Scope of Appointment” form. This document acts as a roadmap for your meeting, confirming exactly which plan options will be discussed before the presentation begins.

During the presentation, your agent will conduct a thorough review of the plan’s core components. This stage is designed to provide a clear understanding of four key areas:

  • Eligibility: Confirming you meet the specific requirements for our I-SNP.
  • Service Area: Ensuring your residence is within our designated service area.
  • Covered Services: Explaining the medical and coordination services included in your care.
  • Cost-Sharing: Outlining your specific financial responsibilities, such as premiums and copays.
